Joint UNEP/OCHA Environment Unit Activities

The Joint UNEP/OCHA Environment Unit serves as the integrated UN emergency response mechanism for mobilizing and coordinating international assistance to countries facing environmental emergencies and natural disasters with significant environmental impacts.

OCHA and UNEP have launched at the WSSD the Environmental Emergencies Partnership. The Partnership goal is to reduce the frequency and severity of environmental emergencies through more effective and integrated prevention, preparedness and response.
