Earthwatch is actively involved in encouraging the development of indicators of environment and sustainable development, as a way to improve the delivery of information for decision-making.

The call of Agenda 21 for indicators of sustainable development led to a new wave of international action on the development of many kinds of indicators (see Agenda21, Chapter 40).

Access to important work in this field are available by:

Towards Indicators of Sustainability
